Who is TeamTrainers?

TeamTrainers Consulting is the team development practice operated by Jim Morgan. Jim is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) who first trained self-directed work teams in 1994. He held management positions in several industries and has been a trainer, project manager, and technical writer, working at such varied organizations as Microsoft, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Washington State University, and the supplier of a major component of the Apple iPod®. His industry experience includes IT hardware and software, science, higher education, media, hospitality, and fitness. Jim holds a master's degree from the University of Missouri and a graduate certificate in project management from the University of Washington. He has formal training in adult instruction and job task analysis and has taught everything from meeting facilitation skills to the martial arts over 25 years.

Jim added exhaustive research of the academic and business literature about business teams to his real-world team development experiences to develop his unique approach, The SuddenTeamsTM Program. He founded TeamTrainers in 2000 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, operated in Seattle, Washington, and currently resides in Raleigh, North Carolina. TeamTrainers is an A+ rated BBB Accredited Business and a member of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. Jim is a member of the:

  • American Society for Training and Development—Research Triangle Area NC Chapter (ASTD-RTA)
  • Project Management Institute (PMI), and the
  • Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), serving in a local chapter as a member of the Community Services Committee.

Appointed by the King County (Wash.) Council to the Citizens' Elections Oversight Committee investigating problems with the county election process in 2003-4, Jim contributed much of the language in the committee's report in sections related to management techniques. Jim is an active member of the Three Treasures (Zen Buddhist) Meetup Group and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh. He also volunteers as a Grief Companion and Volunteer Trainer at Hospice of Wake County. He holds black belts in two martial arts, plays congas, and writes fiction.
